Friday Book Review~Heart of Fire

Yay, it is Friday! I am so happy it's Friday...here is a new book review for you all! :)

Heart of Fire written by Victoria Holmes

It is 1923 in Berkshire England, and Maddie Harman is living with her weathly grandparents at their estate called Sefton Park. Maddie has lived there ever since her parents died, and her brother Theo went off to war in Africa. Since him going off to war, she and her family have missed him terribly.

So, when the day comes that Theo arrives home, the family is relieved! Theo also brings a guest--a beautiful mare he's brought home from Africa. Maddie isn't much of a rider, but when Theo let's her name the horse, she falls in love with Firebird. She even risks going for a ride, and finds out that Firebird is a champion jumper. Maddie thinks that Firebird is fitting in perfectly at the estate. She isn't too sure about Theo though. He has been acting really strange, and Maddie wonders--could this be her brother at all?

This book is filled with mystery and adventure! Any horse lover will love this book! I recommend this book to boys and girls ages 10 and up! :)

Happy Reading,
Liz

(Be-lated) Friday Book Review~Journey to Freedom

Here is Friday's Book Review on Sunday! Sorry about it being be-lated, I had a busy weekend! I hope you enjoy this Book Review! :)

Journey to Freedom written by: Gilbert Morris

The Brown Rats are invading! Which spells trouble for the White-feet Mice colony. They have been living at peace, with the Royal Family ruling over, and now they don't know what to do. The Maker does though, and He has a plan. His plan includes a very ordinary mouse named Chip. Chip and his friends, which include other white-feet and a mole, call themselves the "Rag-Tags". The "Rag-Tags" along with the rest of the white-feet colony go to war against the Brown Rats and their chief the Dread Deliverer. Though, War isn't enough to keep the Dread Delivier and his horde from taking over! The White-feet have to do something they have never thought about doing before--flee to the West! It will take a lot of courage and trust in their Maker during their journey, and a lot of things will happen, but Chip knows that the Maker will keep his promises and lead them to the West.

This is such a great book with so much symbolism from the Bible! Published by the Christian book Company, Crossway Books, it talks about salvation and faith in a really neat way! I recommend this book to children 8 and up. It would be a great book for the whole family!

Happy Reading,
Liz
